Thanks for your interest in reaching out. If you have questions about my work, want copies of my writing, or simply want to chat about overlapping research interests, feel free to email me. I enjoy collaborating, brainstorming new ideas, and connecting with people working on similar problems. Below are some projects I’m currently working on or thinking about. Many are in early stages so very open to collaboration, co-creation, or even just a conversation.
Current & Emerging Projects
Understanding the Local State: I’m currently building a dataset on city elections in India (and eventually Pakistan, Nepal, and Bangladesh). The aim is to create the first open-source dataset on local elections in the subcontinent and use it to explore questions around urban governance, political representation, and accountability. If you’re interested in data work, housing, municipal politics, or anything related to the local state, I’d love to connect.
Delimitation, Data, and Democratic Accountability: This project creates a spatial framework linking Indian Census data with electoral outcomes. India has rich development data and equally rich election data — but they rarely connect because Census and electoral boundaries do not align. We are working to bridge this gap using GIS, electoral rolls, and polling-station metadata.
Public Opinion Surveys (DALES): At the Data Action Lab for Emerging Societies, we run large public opinion surveys across Indian states — even when funding is limited. Recently we conducted the Indian Election Survey (IES1) in 2024 covering 35,000+ voters across 20 states. We are now building toward IES2 (2029) and looking for collaborators for modules, survey instruments, or funding.
Video Series / Visual Storytelling: I’m also experimenting with visual storytelling — short videos and explainers that communicate academic ideas in accessible, non-academic formats. If you’d like to collaborate on visual content, I’d love to talk.
Advising & RA Opportunities
For Students: If you’re a student and want to talk about research or just grab coffee/tea, I’m always happy to chat.
Ashoka University Students: Office hours — [insert day/time here].
Students outside Ashoka: I’m happy to set up a short Zoom call (Fridays only).
Research Assistants: I’m looking for RAs for ongoing projects. Useful skills include R or Python, data processing, GIS, or LLM workflow experience. If interested, please email me with a short background note and attach your CV.
